The welfare of animals is a priority for the City of Mount Gambier, and we remain committed to acting swiftly and responsibly when animals are in need. On Sunday evening 8 June 2025, Council was notified regarding three lambs wandering dangerously close to traffic along Jubilee Highway East. A Council officer responded promptly and, with the immediate safety of both motorists and the animals in mind, worked quickly to remove the lambs from harm. Given the busy traffic conditions, low visibility, and the high risk of a serious accident, the lambs were secured in the nearest safe and enclosed location - Dimjalla Skate Park.
The City of Mount Gambier is taking a step toward a more sustainable future in partnership with solar technology provider ShineHub. The Community Renewables Program will launch in July to help residents cut energy bills and reduce carbon emissions.
